Dear Candidate,

Welcome to the Avalon English Placement Test! This test has been carefully designed by our team of teachers to help us understand your current level of English and place you in the most suitable course.

The test consists of three sections:

1. Reading Comprehension – You will read three short texts and answer 9 questions. Time allowed: 15 minutes.
2. Listening Comprehension – You will listen to three different recordings (everyday communication, an intermediate-level talk, and a short lecture) and answer questions. Time allowed: 15 minutes.
3. Writing – You will complete two writing tasks:
   - Task 1: Write a short informal email/letter.
   - Task 2: Write a short essay giving your opinion on a topic.

Time allowed Task 1 / 10 minutes Task 2 / 20 minutes

The tasks progress from easier to more challenging, in line with the CEFR framework (A2–C1).

 Scoring

• Your Reading and Listening Comprehension results will be graded instantly by the system.
• Your Writing will be assessed by an Avalon examiner (human rater), and you will receive your result within 24 hours.
